Appearance
A cobras hood is created by the extension of the ribs behind the head. A King Cobra has fangs that turn inward. A cobras is not a true cobra, sometimes it is 10-12 feet long but can also reach 18 feet. King Cobras will be colored olive green, tan or black. Cobras have excellent night vision and a sense of smell which they use to detect prey. It depends on where a cobra lives what color it is.
Behavior
Most Cobras are shy. It is the King Cobra that stands it's ground. Cobras are the only snakes in the world that build nests for their young.

Habitat
Cobras live in rain forests, swamps, savannahs and deserts. Cobras live across the Indian Subcontinents, Southeast Asia and Southern areas east of Asia.
The King Cobra is also an excellent swimmer. It makes its home near mangrove swamps and streams.

Survival
In captivity some Cobras can live up to 50 years. Cobra venom is not the strongest venom there is; sea snake venom is stronger and rattle snake venom is weaker. A group of cobras is called a quiver. Cobras typically live for about 20 years in the wild. Cobras are not blind, in fact they see very well.
